Maiqui Pineda, Robi Domingo’s wife, is looking forward to having a peaceful Christmas celebration, as she announced that she’s in clinical remission amid her battle with dermatomyositis, a rare form of autoimmune disease.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) said that it, along with dealer partner SJ Legacy Motors Inc., inaugurated their new branch at the SM City San Jose Del Monte on Sept. 27.

Pineda gave an update on her health condition on her Instagram page on Sunday, December 15, saying the “symptoms of [her] autoimmune disease are now barely detectable.” This means that symptoms of her autoimmune condition have subsided.

“The best early Christmas gift we could ever ask for – my doctor officially told me that I’m in clinical remission! Clinical remission means that the signs and symptoms of my autoimmune disease are now barely detectable, even if the disease may not be completely cured,” she said. “In short — I’M OKAY!”

Domingo’s wife shared that she discovered the news during a Singapore trip in November. She added that while she has “big plans” for the coming year, she wants to focus on enjoying her Christmas.

“Hearing those words during our trip to Singapore in November brought tears to our eyes, especially when my doctor called me a ‘Christmas miracle,’” she said. “I’m beyond grateful for this gift and for the prayers and support that helped me keep going. Please know that it made a difference so thank you!”

On her vlog, Pineda documented her journey to clinical remission, sharing that she experienced hair loss, skin allergies, swollen and stiff fingers, and heart palpitations at night, among other symptoms in the first half of the year.

“Last Christmas was one of the toughest I’ve experienced. I had to skip all the usual celebrations and isolate myself to avoid getting sick, especially with the wedding coming up,” she added. “It was hard not being able to see friends or enjoy the holiday festivities, but I knew I had to do it to stay healthy.”

The symptoms started to disappear as the months went on, but Pineda continued taking her medication and undergoing lung function tests “every three months.”

“From July to September, however, I would get sick with the flu or some bacterial infection. The silver lining, though, was that my doctors realized that my medicines may be suppressing my immune system too much… Since my tests and symptoms were good, they decided to lower the dosage and possibly have me stop taking the medicine completely,” she recalled.

Pineda added that posting about getting off medication on her private X (formerly Twitter) account last August might’ve “put something out into the universe,” as she received the good news three months later.

“My husband, Robi, and I officially received the good news back in November when we went to Singapore to meet my doctor. She told us that it’s really a blessing that I am doing great,” she said. “I couldn’t help but tear up. This is what I prayed for, and so did all of you here. It’s finally real.”

Pineda made headlines in November after denying claims that she only had a few months to live while adding a screenshot from a false report from a Facebook page Pinoy Spotlight.

She and Domingo made her condition public while preparing for their wedding in August 2023. They tied the knot in January 2024.unobet
